James Thompson currently serves as the athletic director and athletic academic advisor at Windham High School. He is also the Head Girls Track & Field and Assistant Indoor Track & Field coach at the high school. Thompson has been a part of the Windham athletic coaching staff for twenty-three years and as a teacher for eighteen years.
In addition to coaching track & field, Thompson has coached a variety of sports at Windham, including cross country, football, field hockey, and girls volleyball. He has also coached at Norwich Tech and Norwich Free Academy. Throughout the years, Thompson has been a part of over twenty Eastern Connecticut Conference division titles and two state titles. He also serves on the CIAC Outdoor Track & Field Committee. Mr. Thompson attended Eastern Connecticut State University and graduated in 2000 with a B.A. in Health and Physical Education. In 2010, he obtained his masters degree in Special Education and his 092 in 2018. Thompson currently resides in Preston with his wife Kayla and daughters, Callahan and Peyton.
