Stephen is a lifelong resident of Eastern Connecticut. He attended Stonington High School and graduated from East Lyme High School in 1989. Stephen was an ECC All-Star in basketball and football. After High School, he attended Springfield College and graduated with a BS degree in Physical Education in 1993.
Stephen was a commercial lobsterman during High School and College. After graduation he continued as a commercial fisherman while teaching part time until 1998. In 1999, Stephen earned his USCG Captain Licence to captain a fast response marine salvage and towing vessel primarily in Fishers Island Sound and Long Island Sound. He still continues to assist the boating public today on a part time basis. In 1999 Stephen earned his MS in Special Education from Southern Connecticut State University. Shortly after in 2000, he earned his 6th year degree in Administration and Educational Leadership from Sacred Heart University. Stephen’s first part-time teaching job was in Stonington, teaching elementary PE. Following a short time at Lebanon Middle School Stephen was hired in 1997 at New London Public Schools as an Elementary PE Itinerant. In his 17 year career in New London he taught at every level, until being hired as the Athletic Director at New London High School in 2011. Following the 2014 school year he was hired as the Campus Wide Activities and Athletic Director at Griswold Public Schools. To view Steve's A.D.'s Report Interview:
